Constanza transforms public spaces with vibrant “Walks of Color” murals

La Vega, Constanza.- Robert Polanco, Director of Strategic and Special Projects of the Presidency (Propeep), led the inauguration of two new Paseos de los Colores (Walks of Color) in Constanza, La Vega, turning over 888 square meters of public space into vibrant murals that celebrate the municipality’s culture, history, and natural beauty. These open-air galleries aim to enrich community spaces and showcase Constanza’s significance as a center of agriculture and ecotourism.

The first mural, located at the municipal hall, features vivid depictions of Constanza’s landscapes and traditions. The second, unveiled in the central park, honors two local icons: Matilde Viñas, the first known educator in the area, and José A. Quezada (Ñañín), one of its earliest musicians. In his remarks, Polanco emphasized that the initiative’s goal is to bring color, pride, and identity to public spaces through art that reflects the unique essence of each community.

The project, coordinated by muralist Juan Miguel Ruiz (Memo), brought together a team of Dominican artists, including Marcos Delgado, Yoel Alburquerque, Frank Peña, Vladimir Rodríguez, Elvis Senna, Juan Espinal, and Lino García of Dominican Cultural and Creative. Their collaborative work now forms part of Constanza’s visual legacy, symbolizing the government’s continued investment in cultural expression and community well-being.
