IEET and Altice partner to transform technical education with Teacher Internship Program

Santo Domingo.- The Business Initiative for Technical Education (IEET), in partnership with Altice Dominicana, launched a three-day training program designed to bridge the gap between technical education and the professional world. The initiative, part of the 2025 Teacher Internship Program, took place at Altice’s facilities and aims to enhance the quality of education in the country’s polytechnic schools.

The program’s core objective is to provide educators with a direct, immersive experience in a real-world business environment. Participants were able to witness firsthand the dynamics, processes, and technologies currently in high demand in the labor market. Throughout the internship, teachers toured various departments, engaged with technicians and supervisors, and received guidance on the most sought-after professional profiles in the telecommunications and related industries.

“At Altice, we understand that true growth is achieved by connecting people with opportunities, and education is the most effective path to do so,” stated Gilda Vásquez, Corporate Vice President at Altice. “Participating in this program reaffirms our long-term commitment to developing talent and technical education in the country.”

The experience concluded with a collaborative session where educators reflected on their learning and proposed improvements to teaching methods and curriculum content. Their contributions will help to adapt academic training to meet the current demands of the workforce, directly benefiting thousands of students preparing to enter the job market.

“We invite more companies to follow Altice’s example, to join initiatives like this, and to become active players in the Dominican Republic’s transformation toward economic and social progress,” said Tania Guenen, IEET’s Executive Director.

2025 Teacher Internship Program

The 2025 Teacher Internship Program, spearheaded by the Ministry of Education’s Technical-Professional Education Department (DETP-MINERD), is a bold and innovative national initiative. For the first time, thousands of technical educators will leave their classrooms for a three-day, direct immersion in real-world business processes and technologies. This program seeks to not only update knowledge but also redefine technical teacher training in the Dominican Republic, promising a new era of more relevant and modern education.
