Fire in Armando Bermúdez National Park brought under control
San José de las Matas, D.R.- The administrator of Armando Bermúdez National Park, Alex Corona, reported that the forest fire affecting the Loma del Oro area has been completely brought under control. The operation, led by brigades from the Ministry of Environment and supported by park rangers, was aided by recent rainfall and hail that helped extinguish remaining hotspots.
Corona explained that teams spent Sunday reinforcing control lines and eliminating isolated fire points. Alongside Gerónimo Abreu, head of the National Fire Management Program, they confirmed that the blaze had ceased to advance, leaving only perimeter inspections and monitoring tasks underway.
Environment Minister Paíno Henríquez highlighted the swift response and commitment of firefighters, rangers, and local community members trained in fire management. With the fire under control, authorities have now shifted their focus to investigating its possible causes.
