Rhode Island and Dominican officials celebrate at Hispanic Gala
Rhode Island.- The 2025 Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Gala Dinner Dance, one of the year’s most anticipated events for the Hispanic community, took place on Monday, marking the start of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Under the leadership of Chamber President Óscar Mejía and his team—Carol A., Carlos Vargas, and Doris de Los Santos—the gala showcased Latin culture through its décor, music, and cuisine, creating an atmosphere of pride, joy, and community. The event not only celebrated Hispanic heritage but also promoted entrepreneurship and economic development within the diaspora.
The gala drew significant attendance from state officials, including the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, mayors, police chiefs, and council members, highlighting the Hispanic community’s social, economic, and cultural contributions.
The event also emphasized the Dominican presence, with representatives including Dominican Consul Altonio Almonte and members of the Dominican National Police, strengthening ties between Rhode Island and the Dominican Republic and reinforcing support for the Dominican diaspora.
