Santo Domingo.- Guido Gómez Mazara, president of the Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel), announced a national campaign starting Sunday to combat the spread of false information on social media, noting that 62% of digital content is inaccurate.
During a press conference, Gómez Mazara emphasized that 70% of people who receive false information share it, worsening the problem. The campaign, which will debut at the Book Fair, will focus on responsible digital consumption, particularly among children and adolescents.
The initiative aims to promote a digital culture based on truth and accountability, urging political parties to share accurate information to prevent the spread of fake narratives. Gómez Mazara also cited positive economic indicators, including 2.7% growth in the first seven months and over 121,000 jobs created, as examples of facts that should guide public discourse.
