Celebrity chef and humanitarian José Andrés has nominated Dominican President Luis Abinader and Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez for the Nobel Peace Prize, highlighting their efforts to promote security and stability in Haiti and the wider region. In a message shared on social media, Andrés praised the Dominican government’s commitment, noting that the UN Security Council’s approval of the Haitian Gang Suppression Force is the result of persistent leadership.
Andrés, founder of World Central Kitchen (WCK), commended Abinader and his cabinet for working closely with the United Nations and other international bodies to help address Haiti’s ongoing crisis. He emphasized that their consistent engagement demonstrates a clear commitment to peace and regional stability.
Born in Spain and naturalized as an American, José Andrés has become globally recognized not only for his innovative culinary work but also for his humanitarian leadership. Through WCK, established in 2010 after Haiti’s devastating earthquake, he has provided meals to communities struck by natural disasters and crises worldwide.
