Dominican Week 2025 launches in Canada
Canada.- The Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Canada launched Dominican Week in Canada 2025 in Ottawa, with events scheduled for October 15 and 16 in Toronto. The initiative aims to showcase the country’s leadership, economic dynamism, attractions, and investment opportunities on prominent platforms.
During the opening ceremony, Ambassador José Blanco Conde emphasized the event’s role as a strategic platform to position the Dominican Republic as a reliable and competitive partner for Canada. Cultural presentations included Creole cuisine by renowned chef Dayanny de la Cruz, who was honored for her contributions to promoting Dominican gastronomy internationally. Sculptor Juan Trinidad also received recognition for advancing Dominican art and culture abroad. Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe presented an official city proclamation, and Ambassador Blanco gifted a bust of patriot Juan Pablo Duarte to Ottawa City Hall on behalf of the Dominican government.
The Dominican delegatio will engage in a comprehensive agenda, including meetings with federal, provincial, and parliamentary authorities, as well as business leaders. Activities include panels on air connectivity, trade, investment, tourism, and logistics, a roundtable on critical minerals and rare earths, and a visit to Bombardier’s aviation facilities.
This edition coincides with Hispanic Heritage Month and the Toronto Global Forum, serving as a strategic lead-up to the 10th Summit of the Americas, to be held in December in the Dominican Republic.
