Impact revealed How many homes has the Luis Abinader administration delivered?
In a recent analysis, Deputy Minister Luis Madera highlights that under Abinader's administration, more than 15,000 homes have been delivered in five years.
SANTO DOMINGO. – Deputy Minister of the Presidency Luis Madera highlighted that President Luis Abinader’s administration has doubled the rate of homes delivered per year in its first five years.
Madera explained that before Abinader’s administration, the average number of homes delivered per year during the last four Government terms was 1,400.
However, from 2020 to date, Abinader’s administration has delivered more than 15,000 housing units, which is equivalent to more than 3,000 per year.
“If we compare the previous 16 years, the average number of homes delivered was 1,400 per year. In these first five years, we delivered more than 15,000 homes. Therefore, we delivered 3,000 homes per year. In other words, we doubled the average number of homes delivered,” the official said.
Translating growth into poverty reduction
Interviewed on the Tribuna de la Verdad program on Z101, he noted that another achievement of the Abinader administration is that it has translated the country’s sustained economic growth into poverty reduction.
The official emphasized that the Dominican Republic was internationally attacked for not translating its economic growth into poverty reduction, adding that, thanks to the good administration and firm determination of President Abinader, the foreign perception has completely changed.
“The economic growth under this administration is growth that has reduced poverty. For many years, the Dominican Republic was internationally attacked for being a country that was growing rapidly (…); however, we went through a whole decade in which poverty did not decrease. We were growing, but it was not reflected in people’s pockets,” he said.
The official stated that the Abinader administration has reduced poverty in the Dominican Republic from 27% to below 19%.
Luis Madera emphasized that since 2022, when the country overcame the decline caused by the coronavirus pandemic, poverty levels have been falling.
“We are talking about 800,000 or 900,000 people who, in those three years, have gone from being poor to no longer being in that condition of poverty.”
Growth of more than 80% in foreign investment
The Deputy Minister of the Presidency highlighted that, thanks to the confidence it inspires in international waters, the current administration has increased foreign investment by more than 80% from 2019 to 2024, from $2.5 billion in 2019 to $4.5 billion in 2024.
He explained that this investment has focused on hotel construction, electrical projects, infrastructure, and other areas, leading to the creation of more jobs.
He pointed out that another achievement demonstrating the dignity of the people is the granting of property titles, noting that more than 140,000 have been granted in the last five years.
