Education Minister swears in 450 students as 100% agents at Model UN

Santo Domingo.- Education Minister Luis Miguel De Camps highlighted the value of youth leadership and the impact of the International Model United Nations (MINUME) during the event’s sixteenth edition, where he interacted with students and observed their abilities in critical thinking, diplomacy, and debate.

De Camps participated directly in committee discussions, posed questions, and encouraged students to view themselves as key actors in building a “more just, humane, and sustainable” nation. He also administered the oath to 450 students as part of the “100% Agents” initiative, which promotes responsible and ethical leadership.

The minister emphasized that MINUME has become a leading platform for youth leadership in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean, helping develop skills that strengthen the education system and prepare a generation committed to dialogue and purposeful action.

MINUME replicates the structure of the United Nations, allowing students to act as delegates and debate global issues, honing skills in argumentation, negotiation, and conflict resolution. The event is supported by a volunteer team that includes 26 young journalists.
