Dengue death toll reaches 94 this year, Health Ministry confirms
Santo Domingo.- Dengue fever has claimed 94 lives in the Dominican Republic from January to 6 December, according to the latest data from the General Epidemiological Directorate at the Ministry of Public Health, which recorded 15,688 cases of the mosquito-transmitted disease.
At week 49 of 2014 the number of deaths was 23 and the total number of cases was 5,934 (9,754 more cases this year).
Public Health points out that the 94 deaths (three less than the 97 previously reported in a bulletin last October) were confirmed by the Interagency Committee for Clinical Audit.
