Agro must produce as export, tourism demand grow

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Agribusiness Board (JAD) on  Thurs. urged producers to increase their exports and to meet the tourism industry’s growing domestic demand.

JAD president Jose López praised the agro sector’s growth, which in 2017, of 5.9%, despite the onslaught of hurricanes Irma and María. He attributed its commitment and its people to surmount the setback and move forward.

He praised the JAD’s contributions and advice and counseling to agro-producers of all segments even in the country’s most remote places of the.

“One test was the celebration of Agroalimentaria 2017, which generated 1,734 business meetings, involving projected sales worth 367.4 million dollars,” he said.

“The Dominican agricultural sector should focus on improving its competitiveness and productivity and export more.”
