US$20.0M facility to be the country’s first to sterilize medical devices

Santo Domingo.- The Las Américas Free Zone industrial park (ZFLA) will house the company Cosmed Group, which will be the first to sterilize medical devices in the country, at a cost of over US$20.0 million.

ZFLA president, Claudia Pellerano said the service arrives in the country, hand in hand with a world-renowned company, and marks a milestone in the manufacturing industry of medical devices in the country and will turn the Dominican Republic into a more competitive destination to attract investments into the key and demanding segment.

In a National Palace press conference after meeting with president Danilo  Medina, the executive said the company will begin construction and installation in the industrial park this year and is expected start operations by yearend of 2019.

Also present in the visit were Cosmedgroup COO, David Howe, commercial director, Clark Houghtling, ZFLA commercial director, Luis Manuel Pellerano, and National Free Zone Council director Luisa Fernandez.
