Companies offer coal for Punta Catalina power plant

Sano Domingo.- The bidding committee for the purchase of the test coal to fuel the Punta Catalina power plant on Mon. opened the tender offers from the companies competing to supply the 760-megawatt facility.

Three of the six companies that participated in the tender, were selected to continue the bidding, which concludes Oct. 15 with the signing of the contract to with the winner.

The opening of the offers verified the authenticity of the financial guarantees submitted by the participants.

The bidders offer 462,000 metric tons of coal, which will be divided into 198,000 metric tons of coal Type A and 264,000 Type B, to be used in Punta Catalina’s initial tests.

Among the companies that qualified in the tender figure North American Trafigura LTD and Xcoal Energy & Resurces, and the Colombian CMC Coal Marketing, which submitted its application on September 4.
