Utility blames power shortage on fuel crunch, maintenance

Santo Domingo.- State Electric Utility (Cdeee) PR Esteban Delgado on Wed. said that 100 of the 300MW of the San Pedro Power Company are out of service for scheduled maintenance.

Quoted by El DÍa, the official said that Haina Turbo Gas (100-mv) is awaiting fuel, San Pedro Bioenergy (30-mv) and San Felipe (170-mv out for unspecified reasons), are also out of service.

Meanwhile the East Distributor Utility (Edeeste) announced that the 70MW contributed by the Sultana de Este were also unavailable.

El Dia quotes the power company AES Dominicana as saying that its Andres plant had been out of service for several hours for minor repairs, but has already resumed output.

Delgado added that the grid’s deficit was around 340 megawatts.
