Customs 2018 revenue jumps 18.89% to US$2.6B

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Customs collected more than RD$137.1 billion in 2018 (US$2.6 billion), a 18.89% jump over 2017, the Customs Directorate reported Thurs.

According to the report, the figure “constitutes the highest year-on-year growth rate achieved in the last 8 years, which is is considered a growth never seen in absolute values.”

“These results respond to the actions implemented towards efficiency and improvements reflected in the daily operations of the institution” Customs said in a statement, among them, citing the simplification and automation of procedures, the fight against contraband and “the good performance of the economy, among other factors.”
