Money raised by the Tree of Hope will help hundreds of people

The funds raised during the eighth iteration of the Tree of Hope, a platform for solidarity that this year included the involvement of the foundations La Merced, Quiéreme como Soy, Techo, and the Dominican Rehabilitation Association, will directly affect about 400,000 individuals. This version of the tree managed to surpass the results of previous years, in a journey of just 26 days, through the sale of 59 thousand individual flowers, 288 corporate flowers. This was made possible by the generosity of visitors to Gora Mall and various companies in the nation, as well as the work carried out by 650 volunteers who gave of their time and gave us close to 4,000 hours of work.

During the project’s closing activity, Roco Sanchez said, “Thanks to the commitment and dedication capacity of each donor, we managed to demonstrate once again that when we unite wills, we transform realities, and this time we have done it in favor of 400,000 Dominicans who will now receive through the foundations what they so desperately need. Fundación La Merced was able to raise the money needed to run its program for art, culture, sports, and relaxation, which directly impacted more than 150 children, thanks to the sale of sunflowers. While the Techo volunteers will be able to build three emergency dwellings for three families who were impacted by Hurricane Fiona’s passage through the nation thanks to the keys they sold, they will also be able to shelter and safeguard 15 people.

The Quiéreme como Soy Foundation will invest money from the sale of the colorful flowers to add 10,000 additional people to its awareness and/or direct awareness program (Coletour). The Dominican Rehabilitation Association will be able to introduce new treatment modalities and expand its physical therapy program thanks to the sale of the bayahibe flower, which will also help 1,200 individuals every day in Santo Domingo and a total of 313,200 people annually.

The executive from the mall stressed that “these numbers speak of love and charity, and we feel glad and blessed to be able to be a platform of solidarity that affects lives, thanks to the involvement of hundreds of thousands of individuals who have been present in this 8th edition.”
