Crime keeps residents of Los Mina in SDE on the prowl

Santo Domingo, DR.
Residents of the streets 4 de Agosto, Wenceslao de Concha, and Fidel Ferreras of Los Mina in Santo Domingo East denounced that they are victims of constant assaults in the morning hours.

According to what was reported to Listín Diario, the criminal acts are perpetuated from 5:00 to 6:00 a.m. when they go to their jobs, pointing out as the point of concentration of the delinquents an alley which connects four de Agosto street with Fidel Ferreras street.

In this sense, the residents expressed that the last assault was this Friday at 6:00 a.m. at the entrance of the alley above to a lady who was on her way to take a vehicle. Then, the criminals carried out the armed robbery.

“I am afraid to go out; they have already tried to rob me twice, my cousin was robbed on Monday, and this is happening all the time; a colleague who was going with me was robbed, and while struggling, he fell and broke his leg,” said Nelson Antonio de Jesús, one of the victims.

As if it were the daily bread, the residents of the crowded sector of the capital pointed out that they heard that someone was robbed of his belongings in the early morning hours.

They denounce the lack of action on the part of the police authorities, which in their words, “is not good” since, despite the constant wave of assaults, the patrols in the morning hours are deficient.

“The police here do nothing, they go around at night, and then you never see a policeman again,” they said.

Because of the constant incidents and the absence of the police, they say they feel helpless while demanding that the authorities “do their job” and carry out patrols during the hours that they say are the most criminal ones to avoid continuing to be victims of the criminals.

“We who work, who sacrifice ourselves day by day, are the ones who need security, and at that hour, you don’t see anyone,” said one of the residents.
