Dominican Republic: RD$614 million food donation program underway

Santo Domingo — The Social Assistance Plan of the Presidency (PASP), in its Annual Operating Plan (POA) for 2025, began a procurement process for the acquisition of raw food to be donated to low-income families.

The amount allocated is about six hundred and fourteen million eight hundred and fifty-seven thousand Dominican pesos (RD$614,857,000).

Among the foods that are supposed to be purchased is the amount of 112,500 packages of select grade B rice bales 12/1 (exclusive for producers) of 5 pounds, for the amount of RD$231,750,000.

Also 40,250 packages of cream sugar national product bale 20/1, packages of 900 grams, for the amount of RD$49,910,000; 26,800 packages of José Beta or Buena Vista red beans 30/1 bales, each package of 800 grams, for the total amount of RD$108,540,000.

Likewise, 66,700 cans of evaporated milk box of 24/1 of 315 grams, for the total amount of RD$103,385,000; 33,350 packages of milk cookies box of 24/1, minimum of 205 grams, for the amount of RD$44,022,000.

Similarly, they request 33,350 packages of milk biscuits in a 24/1 box, minimum of 205 grams, for the amount of RD$44,022,000, and another 37,500 packages of select grade B rice (exclusive for producers), for RD$77,250,000.

The process of the Procurement and Contracting Plan (PACC) of this institution will be carried out through public bidding, as indicated in the procedure manual approved by the Governing Body through Resolution PNP-04-2020.

The place of delivery of the purchase of the products will be at the main headquarters of the Social Assistance Plan of the Presidency, from the signing and subsequent registration of the contract in the Comptroller General of the Republic, as indicated by the institution in a statement.
