AILA to receive new Instrument Landing System equipment

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC) has announced that Las Américas International Airport (AILA) will soon receive new Instrument Landing System (ILS) equipment. IDAC Director Igor Rodríguez confirmed that the purchase has already been budgeted as a top priority and will replace outdated equipment that has long been out of service, raising concerns among aviation professionals.
In addition to the ILS upgrade, a new radar system—referred to as radar C—is scheduled for installation within the next 90 days to enhance air traffic services at the airport.
While the ILS has been non-operational, Aerodom, the operator of AILA, assured that air safety has not been compromised. They highlighted that alternative navigation systems like VOR-DME and RNAV-GNSS continue to support safe aircraft operations. Airline representatives, however, expressed hopes for a swift resolution to restore full landing system functionality.
FIRE HIM, Jesus, he was warned for years, and it takes a couple of news articles to get a reaction for public safety? This is a jetset type tragedy in the making, and always the warnings are there, but the government officials ignore the signs.
