DNCD seizes 60 packages of suspected marijuana from U.S. traveler

Santo Domingo.- Agents from the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) seized two suitcases containing 60 packages of suspected marijuana during an inspection at Las Américas International Airport (JFPG).
The operation targeted a 22-year-old U.S. citizen arriving from Boston. Upon detecting suspicious images during a routine baggage scan, authorities opened the suitcases under prosecutorial supervision, uncovering 21 packages in one and 39 in the other—each wrapped in black plastic.
The woman has been placed under arrest and will appear before the Santo Domingo province’s Permanent Attention Court to face charges under Law 50-88, which governs drug and controlled substance offenses.
The DNCD and the Public Prosecutor’s Office have launched an investigation to determine whether additional individuals are involved in the attempted trafficking. The seized substance has been sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for analysis.
She smuggled drugs from the US? Someone didn’t understand the assignment 😎
A total waste of time and money. Just legalize weed and tax it. Arresting people from time to time will not decrease the public desire for weed. Remember “A friend with weed….is a friend indeed”
