Abinader inaugurates 27 de Febrero–Isabel Aguiar overpass
Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader inaugurated the long-awaited overpass connecting the 27 de Febrero Extension and Isabel Aguiar Avenue, a project expected to transform mobility for more than one million daily commuters in Greater Santo Domingo.
The new structure, funded with RD$2 billion obtained through the renegotiation of the AERODOM contract—without incurring public debt—will cut travel times by up to 40% between Santo Domingo Oeste, the South region, and the National District, while improving safety, fuel efficiency, and productivity.

Abinader, accompanied by Public Works Minister Eduardo Estrella, said the overpass is part of a comprehensive urban mobility plan that includes a new transport terminal, a cable car system, and ongoing metro expansions. He emphasized that these combined efforts will relieve congestion across the capital’s main corridors, especially at the western entrances to the city.
The 480-meter overpass features three sections, eight operational ramps, and six lateral lanes for heavy and light traffic. Built to AASHTO 2018 international standards, it includes modern drainage connected to the Guajimía ravine, capable of managing up to one million gallons of water, preventing flooding in the area.

This is a life changing projects for so many Dominicans. Congratulations to all those involved.
