Tropical Storm Melissa UPDATE: 11 provinces on Red Alert
Santo Domingo.- The COE (Emergency Operations Center) maintains 11 provinces and the National District under red alert, 11 under yellow alert, and 3 under green alert, due to Tropical Storm Melissa, the 13th storm of the 2025 hurricane season, which is located approximately 445 kilometers southwest of Port-au-Prince (Haiti) and 260 kilometers south/southeast of Kingston (Jamaica).
Currently, the system is stationary, meaning it has no forward movement, and it has maximum sustained winds of about 75 km/h with higher gusts. A gradual strengthening is forecast over the next few days.

In this regard, people are advised to avoid crossing rivers, streams, and ravines that show high water levels in the provinces under alert. Likewise, along the Caribbean coast, operators of fragile, small, and medium-sized vessels are advised to remain in port due to strong winds, rough seas, heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and reduced visibility.
