Dominican Republic wakes up “soaked”: rain, thunder and alerts left by tropical wave

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic woke up this Sunday “soaked” by rain and with a grayish sky, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusts of wind, due to the passage of an active tropical wave and the presence of a trough in the upper troposphere.

The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) specified that the most affected sectors will be Santo Domingo, San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana, La Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez, Duarte, Sánchez Ramírez, Monseñor Nouel, San Cristóbal, and Peravia, among other provinces under alert and weather warning levels.

The agency explained that by the afternoon, the rainfall will begin to decrease gradually.

Meanwhile, the COE maintains eight provinces and the National District on yellow alert, and another 14 on green alert, due to the combination of the tropical wave and the trough that continues to affect the national territory.

The following areas are under yellow alert: Santo Domingo, National District, San José de Ocoa, San Cristóbal, Peravia, Monte Plata, San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana, and La Altagracia.

The following provinces are under green alert: Monseñor Nouel, Independencia, Puerto Plata, Santiago Rodríguez, Azúa, Duarte, Bahoruco, Santiago, Barahona, Valverde, Montecristi, Dajabón, San Juan, and Pedernales.
