INAPA water tank explosion destroys homes and injures three in San Pedro de Macorís
San Pedro de Macorís.- A water tank belonging to the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewerage (INAPA) exploded this Wednesday morning in the municipality of Consuelo, San Pedro de Macorís, causing significant damage to at least ten homes and injuring three people.
The incident occurred on Isidro Barros Avenue, near the Sor Leonor Gibb Elementary School, where the blast also damaged at least one vehicle. The injured were taken to the Antonio Musa Regional Hospital, while other residents affected by the shockwave are reported to be in stable condition.
Provincial governor Yovanis Baltazar arrived at the scene to oversee relief and damage assessment efforts. Teams from the Emergency Medical Services (DAEH), the Dominican Red Cross, Civil Defense, Fire Department, and National Police joined the response, assisting victims and securing the area to prevent additional risks. Authorities continue to monitor the site as they provide aid to the affected families.
