Environment Ministry certifies 28 new nature guides to boost ecotourism

Monseñor Nouel.- The Ministry of Environment, through the Vice Ministry of Protected Areas and Biodiversity, certified 28 young residents of Monseñor Nouel and Loma de Blanco as nature interpreter guides, strengthening ecotourism and environmental conservation in the region. The graduation took place at Lomas del Cielo Ecocamping, near Valle Nuevo National Park, with the participation of authorities, institutions, and community leaders.

The 112-hour training program, organized jointly with the Civil Defense Risk Management School, covered environmental interpretation, ecological education, visitor management, trail safety, and conservation techniques. Graduates highlighted that the certification elevates their skills from empirical knowledge to professional-level guiding.

Local leaders, including Asoguiemonb president José Alberto De Jesús, affirmed that ecotourism is becoming a key driver of economic development for the province.
