Abinader: new Summit of the Americas date depends on consensus with U.S. and allies
Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader said on Monday that a new date has not yet been set for the Summit of the Americas, which was recently postponed. He noted that the rescheduling will be decided jointly with the United States and the other participating nations.
During LA Semanal con la Prensa, Abinader explained that before the postponement, about ten or eleven countries had already confirmed their attendance, while several others were still pending. The government is now assessing the most suitable timing for the event, especially considering that many countries in the region are currently in the midst of electoral processes.
Abinader emphasized that holding the summit after these elections would allow presidents with renewed mandates and more availability to participate. He added that the final decision will be coordinated with “the United States, Brazil, and other partners in the region.”
