BiggerAbinader says Dominican border under control amid Haiti protest call
Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader assured on Monday that the Dominican Republic has a “sufficient level of intelligence” and maintains firm control along the border in response to the protest call issued by Haitian gang leader Jimmy Chérizier, known as “Barbecue.” He emphasized that the government is closely monitoring the situation due to the potential impact of rising tensions in Haiti.

Speaking at his weekly press conference, Abinader said the Dominican government remains in constant coordination with international forces operating in Haiti and with national security agencies at home. This cooperation, he noted, allows authorities to anticipate any scenario that might affect border stability. A special alert was activated on Monday in light of the protest call.
Abinader highlighted that border security is a permanent priority and reiterated that monitoring takes place daily. He added that the Minister of Defense has detailed information on movements inside Haiti and that surveillance efforts have been strengthened to ensure that any developments across the border do not spill over into Dominican territory.
The border has never been under control when the mafias exist. The mafias have always existed.
