Abinader welcomes seven new ambassadors
Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader formally received the credentials of seven new ambassadors accredited to the Dominican Republic during a ceremony held in the Ambassadors’ Hall of the National Palace. The event, attended by Vice President Raquel Peña and Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez, marked the official start of the diplomatic missions representing the European Union, the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, India, the United States, Norway, the Czech Republic, and Belarus.
The ceremony began with Raúl Fuentes Milani, the new representative of the European Union Delegation, a seasoned diplomat with extensive experience in global health and European affairs. He was followed by Enrique Antonio Valdez Aguiar, the new ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
India’s new ambassador, Kishan Dan Dewal, a career diplomat with over 20 years of experience in international service, also presented his credentials. He was joined by Leah Francis Campos, the new U.S. representative, who previously worked as a senior advisor in Washington and has a strong background in public affairs and foreign policy.
Norway’s ambassador, John Petter Opdahl, also formalized his role, bringing his extensive diplomatic experience across Latin America and the Caribbean. The Czech Republic’s representative, Zdeněk Kubánek, followed, with a long history in international trade and diplomatic posts in Latin America. The ceremony concluded with Belarusian ambassador Vitali P. Barchuk, who previously served in Cuba and specializes in foreign economic relations.
