Rubby Pérez’s remains transferred for posthumous tribute at National Theater

Santo Domingo.- The remains of merengue legend Rubby Pérez have been moved to the Eduardo Brito National Theater for a posthumous tribute organized by the Ministry of Culture. The ceremony will be attended by President Luis Abinader, First Lady Raquel Arbaje, the artist’s family, and prominent figures from the national arts and culture scene.

Pérez, known as “the highest voice of merengue,” tragically passed away when the roof of the Jet Set nightclub collapsed during his performance on the night of the disaster. His death has left the country in mourning, with merengue fans worldwide grieving the loss. At 69, Pérez had a distinguished career and an unmistakable voice, leaving behind a lasting impact on Dominican music.
