Jhonnattan Castro makes history as first Dominican and latino on Formula Drift PRO podium

Santo Domingo.- Dominican driver Jhonnattan Castro made motorsports history by finishing second in the third round of the 2025 Formula Drift PRO Championship, held on May 31 in Orlando, Florida. This achievement makes him the first and only Latin American—and the first Dominican—to reach the podium in the sport’s top global drifting category.
With this result, Castro now holds fourth place overall in the championship with 80 points, standing out among the season’s top competitors. Driving a Toyota GR86 for his own team, Jhonnattan Castro Racing, he is backed by sponsors including Metaldom, IMCA, Mobil 1, Grupo Cometa, and Toyota.
Castro expressed pride in representing the Dominican Republic on the world stage, hoping to inspire more Latinos to enter the sport. A five-time national drifting champion, he has built a legacy as a pioneer for Dominican drivers internationally. His recent success highlights both his personal skill and the growing presence of Dominican talent in global motorsports.
