Dominican broadcasting legend Socorro Castellanos passes away

Santo Domingo.- Veteran broadcaster Socorro Castellanos, a pioneering voice in Dominican radio and television, passed away on Wednesday night. Her legacy spans decades and helped define an era in national media.

Castellanos was part of landmark television shows such as Punto Final, where she shared the spotlight with Dominican entertainment legend Freddy Beras Goico, and El Show del Mediodía, where she made her mark as both host and producer.

She also left a lasting impact on children’s programming, creating beloved shows like Tintinola’s Garden, Bobalina, and Don Crispín, which influenced generations of young viewers.

Throughout her distinguished career, Castellanos received numerous honors, including several Dorado Awards and the prestigious Golden Microphone from the Circle of Broadcasters.
