Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez holds meeting with U.S. Undersecretary of State Christopher Landau

Antigua and Barbuda.- During the 55th General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS), Dominican Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez met with U.S. Undersecretary of State Christopher Landau for a bilateral discussion focused on regional priorities and strengthening ties between the two nations.

The meeting highlighted the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the Dominican Republic and the United States. Both officials addressed the ongoing crisis in Haiti, reviewed progress on the Multinational Security Support Mission led by Kenya with U.S. backing, and emphasized the importance of joint efforts to restore stability in the country.

In addition, they discussed regional economic opportunities, private sector engagement, and the upcoming 10th Summit of the Americas, scheduled for December 1–5, 2025, in Punta Cana. The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation and promoting democracy across the hemisphere.
