Marileidy Paulino places fourth in 200m at Athletissima Lausanne

Switzerland.- Dominican sprinter Marileidy Paulino finished fourth in the 200 meters at the Athletissima meet, held at the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise in Lausanne. She clocked 22.43 seconds in a highly competitive race won by American Brittany Brown, who took first place in 22.23 seconds. Brown, bronze medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympics, led strongly from the start.

Nigeria’s Favour Ofili secured second with 22.31 seconds, followed by Ivory Coast’s Marie-Josée Ta Lou-Smith in third at 22.37. Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith came in fifth with 22.64. Despite missing the podium, Paulino’s performance reaffirmed her consistency at the elite level.

Paulino remains at the top of the Diamond League 400m standings with 24 points, guaranteeing her spot in the finals. Her participation in Lausanne forms part of her preparation for the World Athletics Championships, set for September 13–21 in Tokyo.
