US Embassy swears in 34 new Peace Corps volunteers

SD. United States Embassy commercial attaché Patrick Dunn administered the oath to 34 new Peace Corps volunteer technicians in the Training Center at Pantoja last week.

During the ceremony, Dunn stressed that now more than ever the Peace Corps mission is very important in today’s world; fostering friendship, sharing cultures and helping the neediest.

The new volunteers recently concluded a 10-week intensive training before carrying out their tasks in various communities.

“The professionals will begin a two-year stay in the Dominican Republic, where they will work in community economic development and child literacy projects,” the US Embassy said in a statement.
