No surprise: Dominican-American Towns tops NBA draft

Santo Domingo.- Dominican-American Karl-Anthony Towns was no surprise when tapped Thursday by the Minnesota Timberwolves as first pick in the NBA draft, and celebrates the unprecedented feat since early Friday at the Barclays Center in New York.

Towns became the first number one NBA draft Latino, because his mother is Dominican and he has defended from age 16 to the selection of this country.

Just 19, Towns joins the likes of also Dominicans Al Horford and Ricky Villanueva in the NBA.
