San Francisco Giants to open academy at Boca Chica: Report

Santo Domingo.- The San Francisco Giants didn’t spend oninternational prospects this year to invest “a lot of money” on the farm system and will open the Felipe AlouBaseball Academy, mccoveychronicles.com report Wednesday.

“It’s a state-of-the-art baseball facility in Boca Chicanext week,” the outlet says.

“The Felipe Alou Baseball Academy will serve as theheadquarters of the Giants’ Latin American operations and as the educationaltraining and player development home for the team’s international prospects.The state-of-the-art facility consists of three major league-size playingfields, batting tunnels, pitching mounds, and two substantial buildings,” theoutlet said, quoting a Giants press release/

It adds that one of one buildings contains the clubhouse,gymnasium, training room, offices and conference rooms. The other serves as aresidence hall for coaches and staff and up to 73 players. The residential buildingwill feature classrooms, a computer laboratory, dining hall and recreationalspaces and three playing fields.
