Dominican Republic to build US$125.0M cruise port in North

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Port Authority (Apordom), director Víctor Gómez Casanova on Sun. said  2019 US$125.0 million will be invested in the port of Puerto Plata by yearend, to build a cruise port that can handle over 680,000 cruise passengers starting 2020.

Gómez said five cruise lines have already confirmed operations through the company that won the tender for the concession of the work.

“The entire port of Puerto Plata will be rebuilt with collateral works such as a treatment plant, a fishermen’s dock with independent access road, transfer of the entire container yard and the loading and extension area of the main breakwater plus the cruise terminal, which will be able to receive three cruises simultaneously from those of the new Oasis line,” the official told Listin Diario.
